Wind from the Grassland transports audiences on a journey into the pastoral culture of inner Mongolia, presented by the world-renowned Inner Mongolia National Song and Dance Troupe who will perform music, dances, and songs from this thousand-year-old heritage .

Piano Recital

Boris Berman regularly appears with leading orchestras, on major recital series, and in important festivals throughout the world. He studied at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory and was the first pianist to record the complete solo works of Prokofiev. In 1984 Professor Berman joined the faculty of the Yale University School of Music, where he founded the Yale Summer Piano Institute.

Tenor Recital

As an opera singer, Brendel shines brightest in the operas of Mozart and Benjamin Britten. His specialization is the vocal music of Benjamin Britten. He last performed in Hartsville as part of the Benjamin Britten Festival in 2013 and will be accompanied by pianist Catherine Garner.

Don Grice

Organ Recital

St Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church Campus Drive, Hartsville

Don Grice has performed in Canada, the United States, and Great Britain, and has been heard in regional and national broadcasts of CBC Radio. Dr. Grice has served churches in Georgia, Arizona, and North Carolina prior to moving to South Carolina and is currently organist at Central United Methodist Church in Florence, SC.  This recital is presented in collaboration with St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church organ restoration campaign.

Contra-Tiempo is multi-lingual, Los Angeles-based company dedicated to transforming the world through dance while building community, facilitating dialog, and moving audiences to imagine what is possible.  The company fuses Salsa, Afro-Cuban, and contemporary urban and abstract dance theater, to create an invigorating blend of physically intense and politically astute performance work. This performance is funded in part by a grant from South Arts in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts and the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation
